Description

Schiehallion has a very characteristic conical shape, and is a popular mountain amongst hikers. It is ranked as Munro #59.
The mountain has several claims to fame, of which the scientific experiment of 1774 probably is the best known. This experiment was set up in order to estimate the mass of the earth and to calculate the gravitational constant identified by Newton.
