From the town Queensferry, west of Edinburgh on road A90, drive approximately 10.5 km (6.5 mi) west on road A904 towards Bo'ness. Turn right at the T-junction where road A904 goes right and A803 goes left, and start measuring from here.
- At 0.5 km (0.3 mi) turn left where signed for "Borrowstoun".
- At 1.5 km (0.9 mi) turn left where signed for "Linlithgow".
- At 2.3 km (1.4 mi) turn right where signed for "Bonsyde House Hotel".
- At 3.4 km (2.1 mi) park on the golf club car park on the left hand side of the road.
Start your hike by walking up behind the club house and then continue 170 metres south. Airngath Hill's unmarked summit is found in the middle of the fairway. From the summit continue 200 metres south/south-west to the large memorial at the bottom of the fairway.
Descend by reversing your ascent route.
After a week-end north of Fort William we had decided to spend the last day of our small Scotland holiday in Edinburgh. Hence we found a hotel a little outside Edinburgh after having dropped Sigurd off in Linlithgow on Sunday night.
This Monday morning had reasonable weather so I set my eyes on a quick hike before breakfast. Unfortunately the hike turned out to be even shorter than planned since the only real parking option I could find was at the gold course car park. But I managed to make the hike a little longer than just to the summit by walking across to the big memorial located 200 metres south if the unmarked summit. And after a couple of photos I headed back to the car and back to the hotel for a nicer than average UK hotel breakfast.
