From the round about where roads E39 and E136 intersect, just east of Ålesund centre, drive 6.0 km west in the direction of Ålesund centre. Immediately after having crossed the bridge between Uksenøya and Nørve turn right towards Nørve, and then turn left after a few metres. Drive 500 metres and turn right towards Gangstøvika, and then turn left after another 90 metres. Drive this road (Gangstøvikvegen) 400 metres to just over its highest point, and find parking wherever suitable. Your route starts to your left as you approach Gangstøvika, from the top of the hill.
Start your walk by heading onto Fagerlivegen and continue almost 400 metres to its highest point. Continue on the good path, and if in doubt read the signs for Aksla / Rundskue. When you get to a road (Framvegen) cross it and continue uphill, up to the Ålesund athletics stadium. From the small car park at the east end of the fine stadium walk 300 metres uphill (north-west and west) and turn right onto a path. Follow this path the final 60-70 metres.
Descend by reversing your ascent route.

Njål was engaged with handball this Tuesday evening and Elisabeth and I took the opportunity to walk slowly to Aksla, after my total fiasco with Bactrim (anti-inflammation medicine) on Saturday. A couple of days of total rest and medication had cured the pain and I was finally back on my feet.
