Route up north slopes of Bløkallen, where scrambling is required in lower section.
Route from lake Bløvatnet to Litlekulten.

From Ålesund drive road E39 towards Åndalsnes. Turn left onto road 661 towards Tennfjord/Vatne/Brattvåg at Digerneset and continue 8.7 km until you get to the intersection of roads 661 and 659 at Eidet (by Tennfjord). There is a toll booth 1.6km after leaving road E39 (NOK 30, April 2011). At the Eidet intersection turn left on road 659, and follow this road to Brattvåg. In Brattvåg drive through the village centre and turn right towards the ferry port (signs for "Dryna" and "Fjørtoft"). Get the ferry across to Dryna (this ferry doesn't run very often, so it's best to check the time tables).

At Dryna turn right off the ferry and drive 4.9 km on road 668. Turn right in the T-junction, following signs for Ramsvik. Follow this road 6.2 km, and find a small car park on the right hand side of the road. This is 1.2 km after you have re-joined road 668. Park at this car park.

Walk a few tens of metres back along the road, cross the road, and locate a path signed for Bløkallen just before a red barn. Follow this good path uphill, first west and later south. At 280 metres the path forks, and you should follow the left leg going directly uphill. The leg that continues straight ahead is where you will be coming back.

At a little above 400 metres this path gets very steep, and you will find a couple of ropes to assist the ascent, but if you scramble up a little to the left there is no need for this rope unless the rock is icy. Once above the scrambling section the path continues steeply uphill, before it levels out. You now see the last section up to Bløkallen's summit, and the path is easy to follow to the summit, which is marked by a large cairn. You also find a summit registration book, and an old trigonometric point marker laying on the ground.

From Bløkallen continue across the summit, following the path down its southern slopes. This path is easy to follow all the way down to a little south of lake Bløvatnet. Turn right here, and leave the path. Head north-west and find your best way to Litlekulten. There is no path here, but the terrain is relatively easy to hike. Litlekulten's summit is located out to the left as seen from Bløvatnet.

From Litlekulten head east along the large summit area. When you get to the steep east side of Litlekulten turn right and head down south, off the mountain. Once down into the flatter area turn left (east) and proceed to the path that runs from lake Bløvatnet. Follow this path all the way back down to your car.

24. April 2011

We decided to head home from our cabin at Fjellsetra this Easter Sunday, and I only did a short pit stop at home before heading to Midsund. Here I had a nice hike, including the first scramble of the year, in windy and sunny conditions. I met a number of other hikers, and a lady I met twice gave me some good advice about the route. I also stumbled upon an adder as I was passing the south side of lake Bløvatnet.
