From the A5/A470 junction outside the village Betws-y-Coed drive 9.5 km west on road A5, to the A5/A4086 junction in Capel Curig. Turn left onto road A4086 and drive 700 metres, to just after the "Plas y Brenin" buildings. Find parking along the left hand side of the road.
Start your hike by walking back to the "Plas y Brenin" buildings, and then turn right down to the lake where it's signed "Public footpath". Cross the bridge and continue straight ahead into the forest. Follow this path 200 metres to a T-junction, and turn right here. Follow this path 180 metres to where it meets a forest road. Turn left onto the forest road, and then right onto a path after 20 metres. Follow this path through the forest, across a number of stiles, and then in a straight line south/south-west to the summit. The summit is marked by a proper cairn.
Descend by reversing your ascent route.
Sunday, and day #2 of my short Welsh week-end, and I was due to meet my colleagues at Birmingham airport at 18:30 in order to go to Warwick. The weather was cold and sunny, but with some fog covering some of the tops.
After breakfast I drove to Capel Curig, and found a nice path, covered by dry snow above 500 metres, to Carnedd Moel Siabod. I met one hiker during my ascent, and several while descending.
