From Nesbyen, on road 7, drive approximately 8.5 km west towards Rukkedalen, and turn left where signed for Nesbyen ski-centre. Drive 5.0 km to just below the ski-centre and turn left here, where it's signed for "Natten". Start measuring from here:

- At 2.1 km turn right towards "Natten" in the T-junction.

- At 2.8 km turn left where signed "268-320" (cabin numbers).

- At 2.9 km turn right where signed "309-317".

- At 3.3 km turn right in T-junction, just after having crossed a bridge.

- At 3.9 km locate a short gravel road going right, and park here.

Start your hike by continuing on the gravel road you drove uphill. After 50 metres the road ends, and the next 50 metres is a section of gravel piles. When you've passed the piles you will find a path going slightly to the right, and then uphill. Follow this path up to the ski-slopes and then walk to the top of the ski-slopes. From here follow the path east to the small cairn. Stay on this path going east, and then steep down approximately 800 metres from the top of the ski-slopes. The path is very vague when you get down to the saddle and also at the start of the climb on the other side. When you have ascended the slightly cumbersome climb continue east, and then soon north-west to the south end of Grånatten. The path runs around the steep south end and climbs up to the summit from south-east. The summit is marked by a small cairn.

Descend by reversing the ascent route.

28. July 2012

The weather this Saturday was as forecasted, and Håvard and I had planned accordingly; no real hiking today. But I had some unfinished business in the territory we hiked yesterday; I had misread the map and missed Grånatten, which we easily could have included in yesterday's hike.

I left Håvard's cabin just as he got out of bed, and started my hike a little after 10:30. It was raining continuously and the visibility was very poor, but with no wind hiking was quite acceptable. From the summit I had something like 50 metres visibility so there was no point hanging around for more than seconds.
