Start measuring from the ferry port at Larsnes on road 61, and get the ferry across to Sandsøya (Voksa). From the ferry port drive 4.3 km and turn left towards "Sandshamn". Drive another 300 metres and turn right towards "Sandshamn", and then turn left towards "Helland" after another 1.0 km. Drive 120 metres, turn right, and drive 330 metres uphill. Park just before a barn on the right hand side of the road.
Start your hike by following the path on the right hand side of the barn. Follow this path uphill to the trail junction at 230m, where you should bear a little right towards Hornet. You will find a summit register at the summit.
Descend by reversing your ascent route.
I had hiked Rinden and Vorakletten this Thursday (Ascension Day), and was now ready to take on Hornet while my colleague Trond was battling his way into Hornet. I didn't quite manage to make up my mind on where to park, and when I finally did, a local came out of his garage and gave me that what-are-you-doing-here look. I quickly got my disarming question across, whether I was OK to park here or not, and his answer was of the "preferably not" type. But his service was better than just knocking my hand off, and when I told him where I was heading he immediately told me to drive a couple of hundred metres down the road and park below the barn.
Down by the barn I was relatively confident I would find an OK route, but actually wasn't totally convinced before I got all the way up to a little below the summit. From here it was pretty obvious where to go, and in a minute or two I was at the summit. From here I had fine views, and I also remembered to sign the summit register before heading back down to the car. Then onwards to Helland for the final hike of the day; Dollsteinen.
