Start of path towards Jonsknuten, at end of service road.

From Kongsberg drive south on road E134, approximately 5 km, to the southern most of the two junctions between roads E134 and 40. From this junction drive 1.7 km on road E134 in the direction of Notodden. Then turn right where signed for "Knutehytta", and follow signs for "Knutehytta" for 9.0 km to the car park by Knutehytta. Park here. Knutehytta is a relatively large wooden building, which amongst others is a cafeteria.

Start your hike by continuing on the mountain road, in the direction of the large TV tower at the summit of Jonsknuten. After approximately 700 metres you get to the gondola station and the mountain road ends. At the far end of the road you will find a path heading uphill to the left. Follow this path, marked by large metal poles, all the way to the summit.

Descend by reversing your ascent route.

15. July 2011

Njål, Sigurd and me left Sarpsborg early this Friday morning in order to first drive to Langesund to my childhood house, and to visit aunt Astrid and uncle Kristian. After a few hours in Langesund we hit the road towards Nystølen above Nesbyen, where we would spend the night at Håvard's cabin before continuing to Fjellsetra. On our way between Langesund and Nystølen we did a small de-tour and hiked Jonsknuten. We had light rain during our hike, and the summit was both windy and cold.
