Assume your starting point is the round about east of Molde centre where roads E39 and 662 intersect. Drive 4.1 km east on road E39 and turn left in the round about, towards Eide. Follow road 64 5.8 km and pay toll (NOK 20 per 2014) when you exit the tunnel. Start measuring from the toll booth.
- At 5.9 km fork left in the round about, onto road 663 in the direction of Elnesvågen.
- At 11.8 km continue straight ahead (don't turn right towards "Farstad") onto road 664.
- At 12.7 km turn right onto Hauanvegen (not signed), and then immediately left onto "Selbakken". Park on the right hand side of a large building, next to a small building.
Start your hike by following the signed forest road towards Klempertåsen, past a large green metal tank. After 600 metres you get to the highest point of the forest road. Turn left onto an unsigned path and follow this path 350 metres to the unsigned summit. If you look very carefully you will find a metal bar sticking approximately 10cm up from the ground, right next to the path, indicating there has been some kind of summit marker here previously, and probably a trigonometric point marker.
Descend by reversing your ascent route.
After two longer hike earlier today I had two small hikes left to do before heading back home. The first one was Klempertåsen, which proved to be an easy hike, with surprisingly fine(-ish) views since the summit was out of the dense forest.
I met a mother and son while descending, and the path indicates this top is much more frequently visited than what one would think when first looking at the mountain from below.
