Lower part of route to Moel Famau.

From the round about in the town Ruthin where roads A525 and A494 meet, in north-west Wales, drive A494 3.3 km (2.1 mi) towards "Yr Wyddgrug". Turn sharp left onto the road "Lon y Mynydd" immediately after a sharp right hand curve. Drive 2.1 km (1.3 mi) uphill on the narrow road and park on the car park on the left hand side of the road. Note that this a pay & display car park (£ 1.00 per day per 2014).

Start your walk by following the wide path on the left hand side of the top above you. Fork right onto a smaller path after less than 100 metres, and continue on the wide path when you re-join it after 700 metres. From here follow this wide path all the way up to the concrete building at the summit.

Descend by reversing your ascent route, back down to the car park. Cross the road and head uphill on either of the paths a little right of the fence coming down from Foel Fenlli. When the path tops out turn a little left and follow the path to the pile of stones at the summit.

Descend back down to the car park by reversing your route up Foel Fenlli.

14. March 2014

My second hike this Friday, in my pursuit to visit the 50 most prominent tops in Wales. This was an easy hike in nice weather, and I also managed to add Foel Fenlli as a bonus top.
