Start of service road to Røverkollen.

From Oslo centre find road 4, and follow it north-east, in the direction of Gjøvik. Leave road 4 when you see signs for Romsås, and follow signs for Romsås until you're on Romsåsveien. While driving this road uphill you'll see a sign towards left for ""Romsås senter". Turn left and drive 1.2 km uphill. Turn right, down onto a car park, where signed for "Telenor" (you're not likely to be allowed to park here during day-time Monday-Friday). Park here.

Walk back up to the main road and turn right. Follow the road 230 metres and turn left onto a service road closed by a gate. Follow this service road uphill, until you get to a large telecomm tower. Leave the service road, head up to the tower, and proceed to the view tower north of the telecomm tower.

Descend by reversing your ascent route.

30. January 2013

I had been to uncle Kristian's funeral in Langesund and was due to drive home. Given all the road works on E18 and E6, and the around-zero temperatures, I estimated the drive home to be no less than ten hours. And with a 3pm exit from Langesund I decided to find accommodation for the night somewhere north of Lillehammer. This gave me the opportunity to "waste" a few minutes on hiking Røverkollen.

The hike to Røverkollen was done on ploughed service road, except for the last 50 metres or so, and was an easy and refreshing hike. I met three other hikers while descending, who were out walking their dogs and smoking their cigarettes! After the hike I drove to Kvam, where I got a room for the night.
