When arriving the island Frei from south, via Freifjordtunnelen, start measuring.
- Drive 1.1 km towards Kristiansund after you exit the tunnel and turn left towards Kvalvåg.
- At 1.2 km turn left towards Møstavågen, and turn left again towards Møstavågen.
- At 1.5 km turn right towards Møstavågen.
- At 4.8 km turn left towards Amundøy.
- At 5.2 km turn left onto "Buvikvegen" and find parking immediately (in the very first junction).
Start your hike by following the small road that runs parallel back along the road you arrived and turn right after 40 metres. Turn right onto the wide path (forest road) and follow it 370 metres, and then turn left and head uphill to the summit register a little north of the highest point. The unmarked summit is found ~20 metres further south.
Descend by reversing your ascent route.
Elisabeth and I were on our way to Kristiansund for three handball games for goys-16 in the regional league, one this Saturday and two the day after. At the ferry from Vestnes we kindly got assistance from Walther, who offered to take Njål to Kristiansund while Elisabeth and I were hiking, so we didn't have to go there and come back to Frei.
Our hike was a straight forward forest hike, but on pretty wet path, and the summit views were practically not existing. Hence it was a quick summit stop before heading back down and off to Kristiansund, where Njål and the guys drew their first game.
