  Sirikjerke trail head by Slettfjellveien.

From Drammen drive west on road E134. Drive approximately 17.5 km and turn right onto road 35. Turn left in the round about and across the bridge, and the straight through the next round about, following signs for road 35 and Tønsberg. Drive another 4.0 km from this round about, and turn left where signed for "Sirikjerkeveien". Note that this sign is partly hidden when coming from north. Start measuring from here:

- At 0.5 km pay toll (NOK 40 per 2012)

- At 6.5 km turn sharp right

- At 8.2 km find parking on the right hand side of the road at a small car park

Start your hike by following the path on the left hand side of the road, signed for "Sirikirke". Follow this path, which is marked with light blue paint, all the way to the summit. The summit is marked by a trigonometric point parker.

Descend by reversing your ascent route.

28. June 2012

I had been in Asia for work for two weeks, and the plan was to fly back from Mumbai on Friday. But having completed our tasks by Thursday we changed our flights and made it back to Norway a little after lunch on Thursday. I had my car at Oslo airport, since my plan was to go straight from the airport to my mum's 70th at Gaustablikk on Friday afternoon, but arriving Thursday slightly changed the plans. I therefore decided to travel towards Telemark on Thursday afternoon, book a room somewhere, and work from there the following day. This gave me the opportunity to go for a hike on Thursday afternoon, and I was aware that Sirikjerke would be a fine candidate.

After getting some advice from a local in Vestfossen on driving directions I ended up driving all the way up to 500 metres. This gave me a very short hike, completed in around 30 minutes, and I was quite happy having got a leg-stretcher to a nice view point. I even got a view of Gaustatoppen, which I had planned to hike during our week-end stay at Gaustablikk.

Back at the car I drove down to Vestfossen and bought some rolls and water, before continuing towards Rjukan.
