From Ålesund drive road E39 and then road 61 towards Sulesund. Take the ferry across to Hareid, and turn right in the round-about just after the ferry port. Drive 4.1 km in the direction of Brandal. Then turn left directly after a small bridge and continue uphill for 600 metres. Find parking at one of the small car parks.
Start walking by following the gravel road that passes the two buildings on their right hand side, and follow this road as it turns into a path. After 1.0 km you get to a path junction, with one leg going left and one going right. Follow the left leg towards "Snellelia". The path can be difficult to find past the old stone building but just behind it you will find a relatively obvious path. Follow this path below a small top with a relatively big cairn on it, and aim for the highest point on the top that now appears ahead of you. When you get onto this top you have a plateau in front of you, and you can see the Sneldelida summit ahead of you, slightly to your right. Follow the path all the way to the summit, which is marked by a cairn and has a registration book.
From Sneldelida walk back down to the plateau and follow its left (north) edge. When the plateau dips down towards north aim directly for Signalhornet, which har a large cairn on its summit. There are a number of paths in the area and you just have to find the best route. Walking off-path is relatively easy.
From the Signalhornet summit aim directly north towards Skolma's south-east slopes, and then continue towards the summit. Skolma also has a summit cairn, as well as another registration book.
From Skolma head directly towards Grøthornet, and then pass the lake Grøthornvatnet on its left hand side. Then ascend Grøthornet from north and continue across to its summit, marked by a small cairn. From the summit head south-west, down to the small cabin at the foot of Grøthornet. From here you can follow the path back down to the car.
This had been a pretty terrible week with very late nights at work. I was therefore desperate to get some physical activity done this Thursday night. Since I was spending the day at work in Ulsteinvik I decided to stop for a hike on my way home. After a quick check at Arnt's web-site I decided to visit the northern part of Hareidlandet island, a place I hadn't explored before.
I drove from work around 16:00, and was ready to start my hike at 16:15. The conditions weren't very good, with low clouds and some rain, but I don't think anything could have stopped me this afternoon. Since I didn't want to get home terribly late I was semi-rushing all the way to Sneldelida, and the weather wasn't very stimulating for taking a lot of photos. At the Sneldelida summit I took a number of photos, all pretty lousy, but as I was about to pack my camera the weather suddenly improved and allowed for much better photos to be taken. I really rushed it, assuming this improvement in weather wouldn't last long but as it turned out I was blessed with quite OK conditions for the rest of my hike.
After Sneldelida I headed across to Signalhornet, and then Skolma. The plan was to head back down to the car from Skolma, but I was doing OK time-wise (I had been doing a fair bit of running) so I decided to do the small de-tour of including Grøthornet also on my way back to the car.
