Locate a car park on the north side of road 7 across Hardangervidda, approximately mid-way along lake Skiftessjøen. The car park is located approximately 16 km east of the ski-centre at Maurset and 15.2 km west of Fagerheim.
From the car park walk 150 metres along road 7, towards north-east. Leave the road and head east/south-east across firm ground. The summit isn't visible down from the road, but if you head towards the centre of the hill you will be going in the right direction. When you get higher up you will see the summit cairn.
Descend by reversing your ascent route.
I was on my way across Hardangervidda, from Jondal to Nesbyen, and had already hiked Grytehorga earlier in the day. My intention was to do in total three tops at Harangervidda, and in splendid conditions I had an easy walk to Steinbunuten, from where I had some excellent views.
After yet another nice hike in gorgeous weather I drove towards Fagerheim for my
final hike of the day.
