From junction 7 on road E6, just north of Sarpsborg, drive approximately 3 km and exit right in junction 8. Follow road 118 approximately 700 metres and turn right where signed for "Stikkaåsen". From here drive 1.6 km to the highest point of the road and find parking where a gravel road turns right, signed "Retrieverklubben".
Follow the gravel road into the forest, and turn left onto a path after 70 metres. Note that there are a number of paths when you get a little into the forest, but the route is relatively obvious if you continuously aim for higher land. At the summit you will find a large wooden view tower, which is old and might not be safe to climb.
Descend by reversing your ascent route.
We had arrived Sarpsborg the night before, in order to spend Christmas with family, and this Saturday was as busy as expected, with shopping and duties. But by around 1 pm Sigurd and me managed to get away and drove to Kjerringåsen where Sigurd would spend the afternoon at the ski-centre. I drove to Stikkaåsen and did a short hike in very easy terrain to Stikkaåsen summit. The actual summit had a large wooden view tower, of dodgy quality, so I didn't try my luck to walk up to the top of it.
Back at the car I returned towards Kjerringåsen, but instead of driving up to
the ski-slopes I drove to the cross country tracks by Harahjellen, where I did
10+ km on artificial snow on my new Fisher skis. After this I picked up Sigurd
at the small but nice ski-centre.
