Drive road 51 approximately 15 km north from Gol. Turn left where signed for "Storefjell", and pay toll (NOK 40 per 2012) after less than 200 metres. Make sure you fork left 900 metres from road 51, following signs for "Storefjell". Drive in total 4.9 km from road 51 up to Storefjell Hotel, turn left in the round about next to the hotel, and continue past the buildings and find parking.
Start skiing by heading directly north up along the ski-lifts, on the right hand side. Continue straight up to the summit, which is marked by a small cairn, next to a large cairn and a small wooden building.
Descend by reversing your ascent route.
From our base at Huso Sigurd and I decided to drive across to Golsfjellet to ski
Storfjell on this grey and very windy Monday. We found trail head thanks to
adequate signs, and set out from the car park at 11:00. Sigurd was on snow-shoes
and carrying his snow board, and I was on skis. We made it to the very windy
summit in less than 20 minutes, and soon headed back down.
