From Oslo take the Metro to Voksenkollen (route 1). After exiting the train walk back a few tens of metres and cross the railway on the bridge. Turn right after the bridge and fork left up the road between the kindergarten and the ski shop. After less than 300 metres you meet a road, and you should turn left here. Proceed 450 metres along this road, to where it turns left. Follow the road through the bend, and then fork right in the one-way road system. Continue past the large car park and then past the restaurant. The summit is now up on your right hand side. Walk as close as you can to the large communication tower, which is surrounded by a fence.
Descend by reversing your ascent route.
I was attending a training course in Oslo, and after this Thursday's session I decided to take the Metro up to Voksenkollen and hike the short distance up to Tryvnnshøgda. At Voksenkollen I found a toilet at the ski shop next to the train station, and after a quick change of clothes I was on my way along the road. Since it was snowing quite heavily I didn't have the pleasure of enjoying any views, so my summit stop was limited to a few seconds.
Back at Voksenkollen I walked almost straight onto a train, and 30 minutes later
found myself at my hotel in Oslo centre.
