Assume your starting point is the Ålesund area. Drive road 61 to Sulesund and take the ferry across to Hareid. From the ferry port at Hareid follow road 61 10.7 km to the round about south of Ulsteinvik, and start measuring from here
- Choose the left exit in the round about, signed for Måløy.
- At 5.4 km turn right towards Måløy.
- At 9.3 km make sure you continue straight ahead on road 654 instead of turning left towards Måløy.
- At 16.4 km turn right towards Fosnavåg.
- At 21.4 km turn left towards Fosnavåg.
- At 22.7 km turn right towards Runde.
- At 27.8 km turn left towards Runde, after having crossed the Remøybrua bridge.
- At 33.5 km turn left after having crossed the bridge and pier.
- At 34.5 km park at the car park.
Start your walk by heading 300 metres back along the road, to the information board. Pass through the gate and cross the field along the stone fence. When you get to the second gate, pass it and immediately turn left. Follow the path along the stone fence and then up through the forest. When the path tops out it turns right, and a few metres later it forks. Follow the right leg, which will take you along the south edge, in a north-east direction. After you have passed point 302m you should start to ascend towards the summit. There are a number of tracks up here, maintained by the local sheep, and any of the tracks going uphill will take you up towards the summit, which is marked by a large cairn.
Descend by reversing your ascent route.
I had attended meetings in Hjørungavåg and Ulsteinvik this grey and windy Tuesday, and headed straight to Runde after work. I located the trail head thanks to information found on Westcoastpeaks.com, and followed the fine path up to above the forest. From here I followed an OK path along the south edge of the wide ridge, but the path faded away a little as I got closer to the summit, but there were a number of sheep tracks I could choose from.
At the summit I found shelter behind the large cairn, and took a few photos before heading back down along the route I had ascended. And back at the car it was a quick change of clothes before heading home.
